Biker Creed

We ride because it is fun.

We ride because we enjoy the freedom we feel from being exposed to the elements, and the vulnerability to the danger that is intrinsic to riding.

We do not ride because it is fashionable to do so.

We ride our machines, not wear them. Our machines are not a symbol of status. They exists simply for us and us alone.

Our machines are not toys. They are an extension of our being, and we treat them accordingly, with the same respect as we have for ourselves.

We strive to understand the inner-workings of our machines, from the most basic to the most complex.

We will learn everything we can about our machines, so that we are reliant upon no one but ourselves for their health and well being.

We strive to constantly better our skill and control over our machines. We learn their limits, and use our skills to become one with our machines so that we may keep each other alive. We are the masters, it is the servant. Working together in harmony, we will become an invincible team.

We do not fear death. We will, however, do all possible to avoid death prematurely. Fear is the enemy, not death. Fear on the highway leads to death, therefore we will not let fear be our master. We will master it.

Our machines will outlive us. Therefore, they are our legacy. We will care for them for future bikers to cherish as We have cherished them, whoever they may be.

We do not ride to gain attention, respect, or fear from those that do NOT ride, nor do we wish to intimidate or annoy them. For those that do not know us, all we wish from them is to ignore us. For those that desire to know us, we will share with them the truth of ourselves, so that they might understand us and not fear others like us.

We will never be the aggressor on the highway. However, should others show aggression towards us their aggression will be dealt with in as severe manner as we can cast upon them.

We will show respect to other bikers more experienced or knowledgeable than us. We will learn from them all that we can. However, if our respect is not acknowledged or appreciated, it will end.

We will not show disrespect to other bikers less experienced or knowledgeable than us. We will teach them what we can. However, if they show us disrespect, we will not tolerate disrespect after we have shown them respect.

We are not part-time bikers. We are bikers when, and where ever we go. We are proud to be bikers, and hide our chosen lifestyle from no one. We ride because we love freedom, independence, and the movement of the ground beneath us. But most of all, we ride to better understand ourselves, our machines, the lands in which we ride, and to seek out and know other bikers like us.

It will be our task to mentor new riders, that so desire, into the lifestyle of the biker, so that the breed shall continue. We shall instruct them, as we have been instructed by those before us. We shall preserve and honor traditions of bikers before us, and we will pass them on unaltered.

We will not judge other bikers on their choice of machine, their appearance, or their profession. We will judge them only on their conduct as bikers. We are proud of our accomplishments as bikers, though we will not flaunt them to others. If they ask, we will share them.

We will stand ready to help any other biker that truly needs our help.

We will never ask another biker to do for us what we can do for ourselves.
